Glen Emberson – From Concern to Action
A father’s call to protect the next generation.
As drug and abuse rates rose in their community, Glen and Shirley knew they had to do more than just talk. They turned to the ocean — and to OOCSA — to create a new path for island youth.
FULL STORY:
"Glen (Shirley’s husband) added this to her comments:
➡️ Exactly... as parents, we were extremely concerned for our children and youth, especially in the islands. The internet was very new to the community and expanding its reach very quickly into daily life. Data regarding sexual abuse cases, drugs, etc. started to increase rapidly.
We decided we’d had enough talking and planning. We looked at what was around us and saw what the ocean offered. We saw an opportunity for outrigger canoes and started reaching out.
Your name was given to us by Insp. Vili Maivusa, who said you had a heart for the children and community... the rest is history!"
